DP World Launches Strategic Logistics Corridor Between Brazil and Africa

The group DP World has taken a new step in advancing South–South trade integration with the launch of Brazil Africa Link, an export logistics corridor designed to efficiently connect Brazilian exporters to African markets. The initiative was unveiled during Intermodal South America 2026, Latin America’s largest logistics event, held from April 14 to 16 in São Paulo.
An Integrated Corridor to Streamline Brazil–Africa Trade Flows
With maritime routes linking the Port of Santos to DP World’s assets in Angola and Mozambique, along with an extended logistics network in South Africa, the new corridor is built on a fully integrated end-to-end approach. The objective is clear: reduce operational complexity and provide greater visibility for exporters.
Designed as a true “one-stop shop,” Brazil Africa Link centralizes all logistics operations under a single partner. The solution combines ocean freight, port handling, warehousing, and distribution through a network of three port terminals, 52 warehouses, and more than 4,250 vehicles.
Priority sectors include animal protein, agricultural commodities, and consumer goods—high-potential segments in trade between Brazil and the African continent.
According to Marcio Medina, Commercial Vice President of DP World Brazil, the solution aims to “simplify the journey of Brazilian exporters, improve predictability, and unlock new business opportunities between Brazil and Africa.”
Three Strategic Pillars in Brazil
During the event, DP World also highlighted its three main development pillars in Brazil:
- Ports & Terminals: the core of its operations, particularly at the Port of Santos, where expansion and modernization projects are underway
- DP World Logistics: its freight forwarding division offering a full multimodal portfolio (ocean, air, and road), including warehousing, insurance, and customs clearance
- Contract Logistics: tailored B2B logistics solutions, supported by the development of new multi-client warehouses in São Paulo and Espírito Santo
Port of Santos at the Heart of Expansion
The Port of Santos stands at the center of this strategy. DP World operates one of the country’s largest private multipurpose terminals there. In 2025, the terminal reached record levels, handling 1.3 million TEUs and 5 million tonnes of pulp.
A major investment program exceeding 2 billion reais is currently underway, including quay expansion, new equipment acquisition, and operational modernization. An additional 1.6 billion reais investment will increase capacity to 1.7 million TEUs by 2026 and 2.1 million TEUs by 2028.
Among the key projects is a partnership with Rumo to develop a new terminal dedicated to grains and fertilizers, with an annual handling capacity of up to 12.5 million tonnes.
Toward Stronger South–South Trade Integration
With Brazil Africa Link, DP World strengthens its position as a global logistics integrator while accelerating the development of trade corridors between Latin America and Africa. This initiative aligns with a broader trend of diversifying trade flows and reducing reliance on traditional North–South routes.
By facilitating Brazilian exports to fast-growing African markets, this corridor is expected to play a key role in transforming supply chains and boosting high-value intercontinental trade.
