Douala-N'Djamena Corridor: the MINT and the World Bank strengthen their cooperation momentum

The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBÉHÈ, received on September 29, 2026, a delegation from the World Bank led by Anne-Cécile SOUHAID to review the Regional Project for the Improvement of the Douala-N’Djamena Rail/Road Corridor (PCDN). While overall progress was deemed satisfactory, discussions highlighted the need to accelerate the finalization and signing of contracts for the railway component led by CAMRAIL. The MINT thus instructed the strengthening of coordination between CAMRAIL, the Directorate of Railway Transport and the World Bank, the capacity building of the MINT Project Management Unit and the acceleration of investment mobilization in compliance with transparency requirements. For its part, the World Bank announced the strengthening of its expertise team to reduce delays and remove operational constraints, thereby confirming the momentum of cooperation to sustainably improve the performance of the Cameroonian railway system on this strategic corridor, which accounts for more than 85% of transit to Chad.
